We come to the third piece of armor that Paul assumes the Christian soldier has already put on - the shoes of gospel readiness. As a soldier's footwear provides a proper foundation and traction in times of battle, the gospel serves as our firm foundation on which we stand. By being ever ready and prepared through the gospel, we can experience peace with God, the peace of God, and can even walk with the God of peace.
